Maxine is renowned for creating luxuriously layered spaces that are both beautiful and practical. She is adept at managing complex projects and as both an artist and designer, is very definitely hands on.

For Max, history and architecture sit at the core of any design and it is specifically her use of texture and colour that bring fresh energy and joy to a space. Max also works in partnership with a number of talented artisans and is particularly keen to offer opportunities to emerging artists.

Having grown up on the Isle of Man, Max studied Interior Design in London before working for Nicholas Herbert for five years. She then moved to New York to learn from legendary designer David Easton before establishing her own business.

As a mother of four children, Max is a passionate believer in the transformative power of creativity. In 2016, having re-located to Edinburgh and discovered that many of Scotland’s young people were disadvantaged by low literacy levels, Max founded the Super Power Agency.

This charity enables some of the very best writers, artists and volunteers to work directly with pupils attending schools in Scotland’s most deprived areas. The agency now partners with 39 schools and last year, enabled well over 1000 pupils to gain confidence from writing their own stories.

Max currently lives in the Scottish Borders and travels throughout the UK and beyond for her design work and on behalf of the Super Power Agency.
